St Mary's Witney is running a safeguarding course. I reproduce Alison's email to me below for those interested. Please contact Alison direct as there are currently 8 remaining places.
If you think this may apply to you in your own parish, please do come along as Alison has organised a very helpful event.
Recent Church of England guidelines have clarified and changed those who must have basic safeguarding training (module C1) as part of their role within their local church.
As part of this, anyone who holds an office within a Parish (eg PCC and DCC members) or those who do the many and varied jobs (eg Pastoral visitors, those who work with young people, those who take home communion to people, welcomers and many more) must be trained every 3 years. This is a very large group and is separate to those who need dbs checks although there will be quite a lot of overlap.
You have been identified as being in this group and so are invited to a training session on one of the dates below.
All sessions take approx 2 1/2 hours and will be held in the Winchester Room at St Mary's, the kettle will be on about 15 mins before each session. All the sessions will cover children and vulnerable adults so you may come to any of them.
Saturday 12th May 10am start
Please could you let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org which session you can attend, preferably with a mobile number as well.
Before you come please log on to https://safeguardingtraining.cofeportal.org/ and complete module C0.
